Connecting Our Neighbors, Empowering Our Communities

Open Internet Statement

The Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) has adopted rules to preserve the Internet as an open platform (“Rules” or “Open Internet Rules”). Information regarding these Rules is available on the FCC’s website at: http://www.fcc.gov/guides/open-internet

Network Management Practices

Federated Broadband does not block any lawful content, applications, services, or your use of non-harmful devices, or discriminate in transmitting lawful network traffic except as reasonably necessary to manage our network effectively for the benefit of our subscribers as described below. All lawful Internet use is handled identically. Federated Broadband does not slow, throttle or shape one type of use over another. Federated Broadband reserves the right, in accordance with applicable law, to employ reasonable network practices to prevent certain harmful or illegal activity.

Congestion Management

Federated Broadband does not engage in congestion management, nor limit usage.

Application-Specific Behavior

Federated Broadband does not block or limit any applications or protocols.

Device Attachment Rules

Federated Broadband does not limit the devices that consumers can connect to the network.

Security

Federated Broadband engages in network monitoring to detect potential intrusion and denial of service attack. Additionally, end-users whose systems are compromised, which are sourcing malicious traffic, may be contacted or suspended until the system is secured. We may block traffic to or from subscribers when a denial-of-service attack is in progress and when such traffic is impacting network elements shared by other subscribers.

Performance Characteristics

Service Description

Federated Broadband’s Internet services are provided over our fixed broadband wireless network system and fiber lines.

Speed Performance

Federated Broadband actual subscribers' speeds vary between 5 and 100 Mbps for fixed wireless and vary between 100 Mbps and 1 GIG for fiber. The network is designed to support these speeds to help ensure that every subscriber receives the maximum speeds available to their home. Federated Broadband, however, cannot guarantee speeds at all times, as there are many factors and conditions beyond Federated Broadband’s control that can affect Internet performance. Some of these external factors and conditions are:

  • - Performance of subscriber devices
  • - Foliage and line-of-site obstructions (fixed wireless)
  • - Congestion of websites and services on Internet
  • - Website or service limiting speeds on the Internet
  • - Internet performance outside of the Federated Broadband’s network
